Installations
Southwell Irrigation LLC designs and installs custom irrigation systems to meet the watering requirements of any landscape environment. As a Certified Irrigation Contractor, Southwell Irrigation holds our installations to the highest industry standards. Our installation process begins with an onsite meeting where we evaluate your yard, paying close attention to turf and plant material, drainage, slope, soil content and sunlight. Using this information, we will design a system that will give you the results you desire, and is as water-efficient as possible. We offer traditional timer-based irrigation systems, as well as, more efficient and environmentally friendly systems that use real-time weather data, collected onsite, to program your system automatically for maximum irrigation efficiency. Services
Southwell Irrigation is committed to excellence in service. There are four main types of service calls performed by Southwell Irrigation; fall winterizations, spring start-ups, walkthroughs and in-season service calls. All four types require our technician to have access to the systems control unit, which is likely in your garage.
Winterization Winterizations are the ideal way to protect your irrigation system during the off season. The irrigation system’s water and power are turned off, and any residual water is blown out of all the lines. After a winterization is performed, Southwell Irrigation guarantees no damage will occur to the irrigation system due to freezing temperatures. Guarantee is void if any individuals not employed by Southwell Irrigation tamper with or alter the system in any way before your scheduled spring start-up.
Why should I winterize? Powering the system down is not enough to guarantee the safety of your system through the winter months, because water is left inside the pipes and sprinkler heads. Frozen pipes can easily burst leading to emergency service calls and expensive water bills. Residual water in sprinkler heads can cause cracks, which would require the entire head or heads to be replace. |
Start-UpDuring a start-up, the irrigation system is turned back on and thoroughly checked for leaks. All zones are run, to make sure every sprinkler head is performing properly and covering its intended area. Finally your system’s control unit is checked to make sure it is programmed properly.
Why Should I have Southwell Irrigation start up my irrigation system? We are professional irrigation technicians trained to identify and correct minor problems and leaks before they become major problems. When sprinkler heads need to be replaced, the proper head is installed so as not to compromise the pressure or efficiency of the irrigation system. Proper programming means your system’s automated programming is set to be as efficient as possible for your yard’s individual environment. |
WalkthroughsWalkthroughs are midseason irrigation checks. Our technician runs through your entire system to make sure all aspects of your irrigation system are functioning properly. Any necessary adjustments to the watering schedule will be performed. If needed, run times can be increased to more accurately meet the demands of mid-summer heat.
Why should I have Southwell Irrigation walkthrough my system? During a Walkthrough, we can catch minor issues that may have developed due to general yard maintenance, such as mowing, edging, etc., and ensure that your system is ready to handle the mid-summer heat. |
In-Season Service CallsThese are non-routine service calls that are scheduled by homeowners when they require immediate attention for damage due to acts of nature, or pending home or landscape construction. This type of service call is not included in contract packages.
Backflow Prevention Assembly TestingYour irrigation system most likely has a Backflow Prevention Assembly Unit. This unit prevents ground water, which may contain contaminants like fertilizer and pesticides, from your yard from entering our drinking water. It is important to know that these units are working properly, and many of the municipalities in our area require BPA Units to be tested annually. In these municipalities, failing to submit this test may result in your water being shut off in order to protect the water supply.
